Just because it’s Friday, some yarn. First, Reynold’s Harvest Tweed in another gorgeous color. I have 2 skeins to knit up into something like a cowl or scarf.

Some Malabrigo in Orchid–the most unbelievably soft yarn. I’ve had this for ages, trying to find just the right project. It may end up as this, although the guage will not be quite right.

Corriedale hand-dyed in blue and an emerald-y teal, although you can’t tell from my shots–sad that my camera doesn’t do blues, when that’s what I love. This is destined to become Namaste, soon, although my mat is extra thick, so I may have to expand this pattern a little too. Not too much math I’m sure!

I checked out Cara’s site this morning, and was directed here, after reading a poem. So I decided to play along (lots of words this week!). Here’s my poetry pick, from Billy Collins’ Sailing Alone Around the Room:

Man in Space

by Billy Collins

All you have to do is listen to the way a man

sometimes talks to his wife at a table of people

and notice how intent he is on making his point

even though her lower lip is beginning to quiver,

and you will know why the women in science

fiction movies who inhabit a planet of their own

are not pictured making a salad or reading a magazine

when the men from earth arrive in their rocket,

why they are always standing in a semicircle

with their arms folded, their bare legs set apart,

their breasts protected by hard metal disks.
