Just a quick post today–gotta get back to my squares–

Resistance is an excellent novel about what could have happened at the end of the second World War. Set in Wales, it is a sweet look at country living during dire times, but also addresses the cold, hard reality of war. It is beautifully written. Books like this make me wish I could write that well.

I also really enjoyed There’s No Place Like Here, another well written story with a fantastically original premise. It took me half a chapter to decide whether I wanted to buy into the idea or not, then I was swept up in the story to the end. Books like this make me think I could never be creative enough to write that well–better stick to non-fiction, if anything at all!

Now I have started The Opposite of Love, which I am enjoying. More of a classic tale of girl in the big city breaks up with boy, life falls apart . . . etc. I’m getting to the etc. part now, and I like the characters.
