This weekend we went out to visit old friends in Long Island, and they took us to walk on the beach (at Fire Island I think). It was a fabulous day for it–clear and clean, with a dramatic sky, as you can see.
There was a beautiful, very sad and moving memorial to the victims of Flight 800, which we walked through and around.
We also visited Port Jefferson town, which has a fantastic classic candy store–and a knitting shop! Sadly, I got there just after they closed. Although the owner kindly opened it up for me, I browsed very quickly, then left her with compliments, no purchases. (She was in a hurry to leave, and I was trying not to spend money.) It was a very nice shop though, with some beautifully knitted items and a nice range of wool.
This trip also provided upwards of 6 hours knitting time as we were in the car a lot. Incremental progress on the blanket occurred! I’ll post on that soon.
